The Giannitto family name is synonymous with the Gawler Arms Hotel, priding themselves on their excellent quality food, fantastic service and friendly family environment that patrons have come to expect over many years.
Antonio and Teresa Giannitto and their family have been operating the Gawler Arms Hotel since 1971 and are the longest serving hotel operators in Gawler. As a family-owned and operated business, their strong values are reflected through their business’ ethos, and is why they are renowned for their premium quality food and service – treating every customer like a member of their family.
After many years in the industry, the time came for Antonio and Teresa to pass on their legacy to their children Angelo, John, Sandro and Sognia who now manage and operate the Gawler Arms Hotel. Growing up in the hotel environment, it was only natural for the children to fall in love with the dynamic pace of hospitality and each of them have carried their strong affinity and passion for the family business.
Through their knowledge and dedication to the hotel industry, the family also own and operate the Southern Hotel in Gawler, Taminga Hotel in Clare and the Balhannah Hotel in Balhannah.
The Gawler Arms underwent a successful transformation in 1996 from a traditional “pub” with front bar, meals and accommodation to a more modern hotel with the same traditional values you expect from a family-operated hotel. Within 12 months the success was evident, with patrons queuing for meals or a drink at the hotel. To cater for this increased demand, a further extension was required in 1998, which saw the gaming room relocated and more space devoted to the dining customers. The purpose built all you can eat salad and vegetable buffet was installed and has become a focus of value for money dining.
Further extensive renovations took place in 2007 where the Gaming Room was once again relocated and a new function room The Loft was built, offering guests a place to celebrate milestones in a more intimate setting.
The latest renovation in 2022 has seen the Giannitto family again offer Hotel style accommodation on the second floor, taking them a full circle back to what the original hotel offered when they first took over in 1971.
After years in the industry, the Giannitto family have gone above and beyond to continuously innovate, modernise and expand their offering to provide their customers with an experience they will love and enjoy, every time.
